Breaking it into steps.

The beach is where all elements come together.
The fire of the sun warms my skin, the wind plays with my hair and carries lightness, the sand grounds me with every step, and the water invites me into its depth.

Water is a force of life itself. It flows in our bodies, in every plant, in the air we breathe. Beyond this physical truth, it also holds a deep symbolic meaning. In many traditions, water represents the unconscious, the hidden layers of being, and the call to dive deeper within. For Jung, it was the image of the unknown, of the inner world waiting to be explored.

For years, I kept my distance from the water. Twice as a child I nearly drowned, and the fear of depth stayed with me for a long time. Yet life has a way of bringing us back to what we resist. Recently, a friend, diving instructon, invited me on ocean trips. With her, I am learning to immerse not just my body but also my senses. Under the surface, another world opens: fish, rays, starfish, the infinite shades of deep blue. Awe mixes with fear. Pure joy.

I still hesitate before jumping into deep water. But I know that if someone is there waiting for me, holding out a hand, I will leap. That, to me, is a metaphor for life itself. I hope, I will be able to do it on my own soon.

Moving to a place just fifteen minutes from the ocean has changed our rhythm completely. Weekends are no longer about making plans but about naturally drifting to the shore. The beach has become part of everyday life; a space for family picnics, meeting friends, watching sunsets that never grow old, or walking alone in silence when I need to hear myself again.

Science, too, explains some of the magic. The sound of waves releases negative ions, lifting mood and increasing serotonin. The rhythm of the tide slows the heartbeat and eases stress. Minerals in seawater support circulation and skin health, while the salty air clears the lungs. Sunlight nourishes the body with vitamin D, strengthening immunity and filling me with energy.

But beyond the science, there is something more. Each wave mirrors the rhythm of my heart. Each horizon reminds me there is more space for me than my mind sometimes allows.

The beach is my perfect place – a meeting point of elements, and a meeting point with myself.
